Using Audio Reflections in Group Visio Divina

The organizing model for the Seeing the Word curriculum is not linear; rather, it spirals outward, deepening one’s capacity for discipleship.

Using this model, group facilitators can bring the audio reflections found on this website into the visio divina prayer process.

Select a Discipleship Topic
Using the interactive chart found here, select an audio reflection for a given discipleship topic. The reflection will offer a correlating scripture passage and illumination from The Saint John’s Bible.
Set the Environment
You Will Need:
• Small-group circles for sharing among three to five participants
• A volume of The Saint John’s Bible as a focal point
• A Seeing the Word Reflection guide (if available, through Liturgical Press)
• Pens, colored pencils, or markers for journaling
• Ability to project the illumination on the wall/screen
• A CD player for music

Prayer Before a Meeting: 30 minutes
• Psallite (1 minute)
• Listening to the Word (4 minutes)
• Meditating on the Word (4 minutes)
• Seeing the Word (8 minutes)
• Audio Reflection (8 minutes)
• Praying with the Word (5 minutes)

Small Faith-Sharing Group: 90 minutes
• Gathering Song or Psallite (3 minutes)
• Listening to the Word (10 minutes)
• Meditating on the Word (15 minutes)
• Seeing the Word (15 minutes)
• Audio Reflection (15 minutes)
• Praying with the Word (10 minutes)
• Contemplating the Word (10 minutes)
• Becoming Christ-like/Reflection Questions for Discipleship (12 minutes)
